Scientist of the Month (October)

Posted by: ddumais99 | October 5, 2009 | 16 Comments |

I was born in Leland, Mississippi in September, 1936. I remember my family’s first TV as “the biggest event in my childhood”. I created my puppet characters from flexible fabric-covered foam rubber. I also used rods to move my puppets’ arms. I was fascinated by puppeteers and ventriloquists, especially Edgar Bergen.

The most famous puppets that I created are Kermit the Frog and Ernie. I also used my Muppets in the TV show Sesame Street. I passed away in the 1990’s from a bacterial infection. My children continue to use the Muppets. Who am I?

ANSWER: I am Jim Henson. Congratulations to those who knew me!
